...conversations that are never fully explained. Then they close without resolving the issues raised in the scene. There's an urge to suddenly jump out of one's seat and yell, "What is going on? I don't understand what you're talking about!" Mamet also seems to expect prior knowledge and intelligence from his audience. The first act involves the history of the Jews that I would not have understood unless I had luckily taken Foreign Cultures 56: "Jewish Life in Eastern Europe Before 1914" this semester. After all, would any Joe Schmoe know what a shtetl...
Dartmouth's Jen Greene racked up three assists on the day, the first of which put her in first place on the Big Green's all-time career assist chart with 51. Prior record-holder Lauren Holleran had to watch from the Harvard bench, where she is now an assistant coach...
...American Adoption Congress in Dallas this month, prompting a standing ovation. The congress is one of several groups seeking to overturn laws, currently in effect in most of Canada and the U.S., that protect the privacy of birth parents and prevent their children from contacting them without prior consent. Hard-nosed budget hawk Senator Pete Domenici, whose daughter has suffered from mental illness, expensively amended the Kennedy-Kassebaum health-care bill to cover such afflictions. Conservative Republican Senator Al D'Amato, whose top political strategist is homosexual, supports gays in the military. Antiregulation Senator Mike DeWine...

Although Synthroid's prior manufacturer, Flint Laboratories, commissioned the study, Knoll reportedly threatened author Betty Dong with legal action after she tried to publish it in 1995. The company denied engaging in intimidation and said the study should not be published because it contained numerous flaws. "It did not meet the requirements of a valid...
