GARDEN CITY, L. I., May 8.--The individual playing in the intercollegiate golf tournament was begun here today with the qualifying and first rounds of 18 holes each. Of the 16 men who qualified, six were Harvard men, namely, H. C. Egan, Proal, Brown, Lindsley, Murdock and W. E. Egan. Richardson just failed to qualify.
