GARDEN CITY, L. I., May 8.--The individual playing in the intercollegiate golf tournament was begun here today with the qualifying and first rounds of 18 holes each. Of the 16 men who qualified, six were Harvard men, namely, H. C. Egan, Proal, Brown, Lindsley, Murdock and W. E. Egan. Richardson just failed to qualify. In the first round both Egans won their matches, but Brown, Lindsley, Murdock and Proal were defeated. No very good scores were made, Wilson's 79 in the medal play being the best...
