To Dr. Florence Rena Sabin, 58 this month, member of the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research (Manhattan); onetime (1917-25) Johns Hopkins professor, the Pictorial Review's $5,000 prize for "The most distinctive contribution to American life in the fields of Arts, Letters or The Sciences" in 1928. Only woman member of the National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Sabin directs the testing of chemical substances isolated from the tubercule bacillus to discover their separate effects in order to analyze each factor of the disease itself...
