It was a thoughtful, eloquent address, commanding the closest attention and interest of the hearers. Dr. Peabody chose for his text a part of the fourth chapter of St. Matthew's gospel, the subject being "The Temptation of Christ." He traced the similarity between the temptations of Christ as He was entering on His ministry and those of a young man just beginning his active life work.
