...Your report on Bush's credibility problems convinced me that Americans don't trust their President anymore. They desperately want a leader who can protect them. I don't know what will happen between now and the November election, but so long as al-Qaeda isn't destroyed and Osama bin Laden isn't dead, the U.S. and the international community won't feel safe. If bin Laden is captured or killed and al-Qaeda and its adherents are vanquished, the earth will be much safer for all of us. If Bush can accomplish those things, Americans may forgive...

...other pathogens. "This is the first report of tea affecting the immune system," says Dr. Jack Bukowski, a rheumatologist and co-author of the study. But it's hardly the first health benefit attributed to tea. Over the years, credible claims have been made that tea may help protect against various forms of cancer, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease and rheumatoid arthritis. The Brigham and Women's study looked at the effects of black tea on 11 healthy nontea drinkers and compared them with 10 healthy people who began drinking coffee. Nonetheless, that’s the tune Dems keep playing. To hear it from the mouth of NEA President Reg Weaver’s public comments, you’d think the NEA was all about education reform, standing up for children and arguing against byzantine labor rules that protect bad teachers and keep good teachers where they are. ...just a credibility gap; it's a credibility chasm bigger than the Grand Canyon. It started when Bush campaigned as a "compassionate conservative," escalated the day he claimed victory in the 2000 presidential election; rocketed off the charts as he took the oath of office and promised to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution; and has continued unabated. CHRIS FINNIE Boulder Creek, Calif...

...reference to Cheney and his connection with the oil-and-gas behemoth Halliburton, you quoted a presidential adviser who said, "People aren't going to care about Halliburton ... They're going to care about who can protect them." Such arrogance! Washington insiders seem to think that Americans are indifferent to the obscene amounts of money that companies like Halliburton are making in Iraq with no-bid contracts. Of course we are concerned about terrorism, but that doesn't mean we're not frustrated by seeing the Halliburtons of the country make a profit from American taxpayers. Woe to those politicians...
