Beyond the oft-stated academic arguments for divestment, the student coalition will offer emotional statements why they believe in this cause. This highly visible protest will be provocative without being overly confrontational. It is also a much more effective way of getting Harvard to divest than Senior Gift Plus because this protest does not negatively affect uninvolved third parties, namely Harvard’s financial aid program. While recent student group initiatives have been plagued by pursuing myriad, at times conflicting, causes, the United Front has avoided these problems and is pushing a clear message. Students should make every effort to attend this protest thereby sending a powerful message to Harvard—and the rest of the world.
