Adams blocked a punt in the endzone in the third period for a safety and two points and led 14 to 7 as the Funsters began their late drives which finally knotted the score. Dave Thompson did most of the carrying to set up Muller's flip to Jim Graham for a touchdown, and swept around the Adams left end for the all-important extra point...
...lines throttled the Winthrop running attack in the other contest and were effective enough on at least two occasions offensively to shake their backs loose for touchdowns. The first score was made early in the opening period with Dick Coe carrying on a weak-side reverse, after a long punt by Greeley and consistent gains on the ground had brought Eliot to the Puritan 10 yard stripe. The Mastadons struck again in the fourth period when George Strout spurted through a gaping hole in the Winthrop line, then ambled 30 yards to score. Although unable to gain on the ground...
...practice game, the newly-formed team from the Yard held Lowell to a 6 to 6 tie after one day of practice. Ray Silver blocked a punt and recovered the ball in the end-zone for the Yardlings lone tally, while Bill Ayres scored for the Bellboys after Briggs' prodigious punt bounced out of bounds on the opponents' 5-yard line...
...nice things the "experts" had been saying they might, in a ridiculously easy triumph over a not-too-potent Tufts eleven, the price paid in casualties was surprisingly high. Captain Cloo O'Donnell, the sparkplug of the game, suffered a broken rib after his dazzling runback of a Jumbo punt early in the first period, and the mightly mite will be out of action for several weeks. The team's doctor should rule on the approximate date of his return today...
With Tufts' light outfit unable to do anything against a heavy, if uncoordinated Crimson line, the Medford boys were forced to punt again, the Coach Chief Boston's men came roaring back. The first period ended with Harvard again deep in Tufts territory, but the Crimson attack stopped at the Tufts' 1 yard-line when Farrell fumbled and the visitors recovered. The Jumbos then foolishly elected to try a deep reverse, and right end Al Fuller dropped the Tufts tailback in the end zone for a safety...
