By 1950 they thought they had him cornered, but then Red aggression gave him the chance he had been waiting for. As Allied forces were backed into the overcrowded, filthy Pusan perimeter of southern Korea, thousands were stricken. Most made good recoveries, but 307 U.S. soldiers suffered severely and 30 of them died...
Privileged Horses. The herons and mosquitoes breed side by side. Also, the herons migrate through much of southeast Asia, which explains why Japanese B is rife in such places as Dienbienphu and Kuala Lumpur. In the Pusan perimeter, the bugs got out of hand when Army medics had to lay down their DDT guns and pick up Mis. Since this realization, U.S. forces have had relatively little trouble (only 30 cases, two deaths on Okinawa this year). They spray mosquito lairs, sleep under nets; in a tough combat situation they would slaughter all the nesting birds they could find...

Into Kunsan air base, where U.S. warplanes took off to bomb South Korea's invaders, Koreans were hurling bombs of their own. Commies, Go Home. In Pusan, a mob of Koreans, urged on by Rhee's national policemen, rushed the NNSC compound, shouting. "Poles and Czechs, go home!" They pushed down the fence and stoned the U.S. guards; in one of their trucks, guards found six machine guns. The worst fighting broke out at Wolmi Island, the wooded, humpbacked pile where the U.S. marines staged their amphibious assault on Inchon in 1950. Screaming Koreans tried to rush the causeway that joins the island to the mainland, and others stormed ashore from junks. One Korean got shot and two were wounded while...
