...more pills. Desensitized to the world, Deirdre allows Finch and his family to adopt Joseph, which in the name of preserving her sanity. Augusten embarks upon life with the Finches, perhaps the most neurotic, Freudian-inspired family in the history of literature and cinema, which includes the doctor, his put-upon homemaker wife Agnes (Jill Clayburgh, “Ally McBeal”), and two daughters, Natalie (Even Rachel Wood, “Thirteen”) and Hope (Gwyneth Paltrow). Throughout the movie it is readily apparent that this is a stellar cast that embodies each role with gusto...

RICHARD PRYOR LIVE IN CONCERT Newhart mayhave been able to assume the role of a put-upon driving instructor, but Pryor's eerie impersonations spanned many species. In this 1979 concert, he inhabits a deer, two squirrel monkeys, several dog breeds and a car tire, plus all varieties of black and white humans. Compulsively confessional, he talks of his cop encounters, his heart attack and his father's death in bed, if you know what we mean. It's a priceless evening with the all-time stand-up shaman...

Steve Coogan, the Brit comic best known for incarnating Alan Partridge, a suavely unknowing TV host, plays four roles: Tristram, his father, Sterne and a put-upon egomaniac star named Steve Coogan. Rob Brydon, who has worked often with Coogan, plays Tristram's Uncle Toby and "Rob Brydon." Much of the film's grace and brass come from their comic kinship, as when they compare Pacino impressions, or discuss the exact shade of Toby's teeth...

...notes of cheeky camp, boasting tone-appropriate choreography and performances, especially by Charlie I. Miller ’08, who strikes the perfect note of slightly-weary debauchery as Frank-N-Furter, and David J. Andersson ’09 who slithers and hisses around as Riff Raff, the put-upon servant...

...City Center Encores! 2002 concert version of Carnival, is crippled, and expresses his sensitivity in bitterness. The barber Sweeney Todd, whom Mitchell played the same year for a Stephen Sondheim season in Washington, D.C., kills his customers and sells their ground-up bodies as meat pies. As the put-upon petty criminal (a non-singing role) in August Wilson?s King Hedley II, Mitchell plays a troubled man heading for tragedy. Even his roguish, blustery hero in Kiss Me, Kate (Tony Award for Best Actors in a Musical) is a sardonic sort, toying with the temper of his favorite shrew...
