Dartmouth line held well and Harvard advanced to the 35 yard line by short gains only. Losing 10 yards for offside play, Harvard was forced to resort to the expedient of going back 20 yards and keeping the ball. This brought it to Harvard's 50 yard line where Putnam was forced to punt. Dartmouth kicked off and Motley ran it back 12 yards. Graydon gained 5 yards in two plays and Putnam then punted. Dartmouth returned the punt on the next play to Putnam, who gained 12 yards.
