Fairchild's play at quarter-back was excellent. His passing was quick and accurate, and he was always in the play to help the runner along. He showed the best of judgment in running his team, and kept his head perfectly throughout the game. In the defense his tackling was the best on the field. It was always low, clean and hard, and it was very seldom that he did not throw his man backward. But it was as captain of his eleven that he did his best work.
