...Islands. He learned how to sail, and he learned the deaf-blind language so that, year after year, he could entertain members of a deaf-blind society whom he invited to Alderney. In 1957 he revised The Once and Future King, softening a nasty lampoon of his nasty mother (Queen Morgause, the witch...
Where Caesar is magnificently consistent, Cleopatra is a little anthology of feminine character. In the course of the play she not only matures from kitten to queen, but exercises her option for whimsical action to the fullest. Miss Yakutis handles the various phases, moods, and transitions with considerable skill, and like Seltzer she shines in the scenes of intimate conversation. ...American yen for famous British artifacts that brought the Queen Mary to Long Beach, Calif., as a floating museum. Each of his friends has his own hangup. A Negro known as "the queen of spades" suffers rejection because of his unrequited love for a heterosexual white boy. One couple is undergoing an emotional rift: one partner is faithful while the other is promiscuous. There is also an outrageously effeminate guest (Cliff Gorman) who brings a flamboyant birthday gift-a dumb hustler (Robert...
...Trapper Lancaster as "payment" for the load of skins they steal from him. The redskins, in turn, are zapped by a batch of bounty hunters, who earn their living by selling Indian scalps for $25 apiece, and Davis gets himself captured by these private enterprisers. Their queen is Shelley Winters, a refugee from a fancy house. She nurses her stogie on a brass bed in the covered wagon of the No. 1 Bad Guy (Telly Savalas) and keeps complaining about the smell from the scalps...
