...PEOPLE THINK OF CLASSICAL MUSIC as a white enterprise, but two new chamber-music CDs from Koch International Classics celebrate a pair of worthy black composers. The felicitously named SAMUEL COLERIDGE-TAYLOR (1875-1912), an Anglo-African, was equally at home in the Dvorak-tinged idiom of his Clarinet Quintet and the simple strains of Negro spirituals, which he set compellingly for piano. Call them the ever-shrinking group. In their earliest days the B-52S were a quintet riding the new-wave crest, but the death of guitarist Ricky Wilson and the recent resignation of vocalist Cindy Wilson have dwindled the group to a trio.
