The failure of last year has mad the college despondent in rowing matters, yet we see no reason why such should so be much the case that defeat last year should prevent Harvard men from going to New London this summer. This year's crew is new and inexperienced, but the men are all well and there is at present no indication of a fluke of any kind. The race with Columbia and Yale will undoubtedly be rowed upon their merits...
Towards the end of March, the crew left the machines for the river; beginning work in the light pair-oars. They next used the 'Varsity barge and finally a few weeks before the class races they changed it for their new Water's shell. In the class races the Freshmen came in third. Considering the fact that their captain was unable to row, and that several accidents occurred during the race, this was doing remarkably well...
