Work for the majority of class and Freshman crews reached a climax on Saturday in the Annual Spring Regatta. Twenty crews took part in the events, the class championship being won by the first sophomore crew. In the race between the Yale and Columbia freshman crews the latter were defeated by two lengths, the official time being 4 minutes, 43 seconds for the 7-8 mile course. Yesterday the University eight was given a time row over the regular course, the last mile being a race with the first Freshman crew. Filley started the boat with an easy stroke of 28 to the minute, and held this pace until the boat came even with the Freshmen, who were waiting above Harvard bridge.
