Late last Saturday morning the University crew had a hard row from the Union Boat Club to the bend below the Weld boathouse, a distance of a little over three miles. During the first mile of the course the University crew raced the second crew and was only able to win by half a length, the work of both crews being very ragged. At the finish of the first mile the Freshman crew took up the race and rowed to the bathing beach. Before reaching the Cottage Farm Bridge the University crew had a slight lead.
