...University crew took advantage of the warm weather and smooth water yesterday for a hard row over the mile and seven-eighths course in the basin in preparation for the Columbia race. No time was taken as the crew stopped short of the regular distance. A racing start was made at about 38 strokes to the minute, and for the rest of the distance the crew rowed at about 31, until when nearing the finish the stroke was put up again.
