...preliminary heats of the interscholastic boat races were rowed on the Charles Saturday afternoon. The course was a little less than a mile, starting just above Harvard Bridge and finishing at the Union Boat Club. Rough water and the hard rain made good rowing difficult. Last week the Yale nine defeated Andover at Andover by 6 to 0, and lost to Brown at Providence by 6 to 7. The game schedule with Dartmouth for Wednesday was prevented by rain. Yale made only six hits off Stevens of Andover and was shut out in seven innings. The outfield played well and Camp and Quinby did good work in the infield. Guernsey, who played third base on account of a slight injury to Brown, was not satisfactory. Cook pitched his first game this season and allowed Andover only two hits. Princeton played but one game during the past week, as the Lafayette game scheduled for Wednesday was prevented by rain. The team defeated Georgetown in the last of a series of three games by a score of 12 to 4. The fielding on both sides was very poor.
