There is a lot more to Vail than its ski slopes, but the skiing is really the raison d'etre for the town, and it does live up to its reputation. Unlike a lot of the ski areas in Colorado, Vail has a very diverse range of slopes. In the back bowl most of the runs are difficult or very difficult, and there is usually a lot of powder.
