Except in a few instances, the backs started faster, ran with more precision, and hit the line harder than at any time this season. The interference, with the exception of Haughton, got into swing in good shape. Garrison, who was tried at quarter for the first time, was the strongest factor in aiding his backs by timely blocking off. He was virtually the instrument of Dibblee's long run of 50 yards for a touchdown. He ran the plays with a great deal of judgment and infused plenty of spirit into the men, by his energetic style of play...
Donald and Bouve were both used to great advantage in rushing the ball. Cabot ran well, gaining in almost every instance. The double pass was again used, and though it was by this play that Dibblee made his long run, in general it seems to be an ineffective play if used against a strong team...
...squad has not been given any very hard practice as yet. Yesterday a first eleven was formed and different sets of backs ran through signals against the second. The lineup at first was as follows: l. e., Wood; l. t., A. H. Rice, l. g., Richards; c., Stone; r. g., Thayer; r. t., Jordan; r. e., J. C. Rice; q. b., Vincent; l. h. b., Adams; r. h. b., Riggs; f. b., Emmons. Later in the practice these backs were changed, Grilk, Hastings and Flint going in with F. J. Goodridge at quarter...
...dodging and heady play. Warren, who replaced Haughton, rushed the ball well, striking the line with a great deal of force. On an intended catch for a punt, he made a skilful run of 30 yards, without any interference. Cabot was always in the game. He tackled fiercely and ran well with the ball. Wadsworth made the sensational play of the day by scoring a touchdown from the 45-yard line on a long pass from Farley. Dibblee made an attempt at tackling him on the 20-yard line, but his effort was fruitless, and from that point on there...
...Brown and Maguire erred most often in this respect. The weakest part of the line seemed to be between right tackle and guard. Burnett at centre had rather a hard time with Spear, and did not acquit himself badly. Cabot distinguished himself by excellent work throughout the game. He ran well with the ball and did the greater part of the tackling. Dibblee continued his fine work at halfback. He made repeated gains of twenty yards and scored one of the four touchdowns...
