Harvard at the very beginning of the game forced the play into Pennsylvania's territory and with momentary exceptions kept it there to the end. Captain Gardiner of Pennsylvania kicked off shortly after two o'clock to Shea, who ran in from the 15 to the 30 yard line. Almost immediately there was double exchange of punts between Kernan and Bennett, which gave Harvard the ball 32 yards from Pennsylvania's goal. Short gains by Shea were followed by a 17 yard run around left end by Putnam. With the ball on the 12 yard line, it should have been...
...yard line, and after a few plays, Barnard blocked a punt and fell on the ball 15 yards from the goal line. The loss of five yards for offside play prevented a touchdown, and Marshall tried a field goal. It was blocked; Whitman picked up the ball and ran eighty yards for a touchdown. After the kick-off, the Freshmen held the ball for seven downs because of offside play by the University eleven, but gained only a couple of yards by rushing. Fumbles were then made by both teams, and after two more downs, Hodges punted to the middle...
After the first touchdown, which was made by Harrison on a fumble a short time after the scrimmage began, the second team returned Stillman's punt to the first team's 40 yard line, from where Marshall ran the ball in to mid-field. It was then advanced to the 25 yard line and lost on downs. The second punted, regained the ball on a fumble, and sent Fox through the line twice for gains of 15 yards each. The ball again changed hands on downs, however, and after an exchange of punts, the first eleven secured the ball...
Pier kicked off to Skilton who ran back 10 yards before he was downed on the 20 yard line. By a series of line plunges and tackle back formations the ball was carried to the Chestweights' 9 yard line. Here the Chestweights held, but Pier made a poor kick-out and the Climbers got the ball on their opponents' 20 yard line. Lloyd, on a tackles back play, carried the ball over for the first touchdown. Skilton kicked the goal. Score: Climbers, 6; Chestweights...
...game was played almost wholly in Carlisle's territory. A few minutes before the close of the game the scoring was brought to a fitting termination when Marshall, receiving a punt at Harvard's 35 yard line, started up the right side of the field, then changing direction ran back, circled the entire Indian team, and throwing off a number of tacklers, finally crossed the line for a touchdown...
