Groton kicked off to Watson who ran the ball to the middle of the field before he was thrown. A series of hard line-plunges and a pretty 20-yard run by Mahan around left end brought the ball to Groton's 30-yard line. At this point Watson tried a forward pass but the ball went wild and play was resumed again on the 30-yard line.
