...President won on much of the substance; he also won on tactics. Before the budget was approved, Dole committed a major blunder when he rashly challenged Clinton to negotiate with him one on one, only to watch in horror as the White House's rapid-response team persuaded chief of staff Leon Panetta to accept almost at once. It was an offer that Dole could make but couldn't accept. "We'll see how it looks," he said in retreat. On the Republican right, and not just there, they think Clinton mesmerized Gingrich in the December balanced-budget talks...

Nicole Columbus, as Sebastian's materialistic sister Bernadette, captures her character's wonderful ditziness with her rapid-fire style of speech. Jed Silverstein skillfully brings to life the whimsical, excited attitude of Bernadette's dentist-artist husband Kip. ...university with both stature and tradition, these changes have not passed by without notice, and a situation not dissimilar to the one described by the members of the classes of 1939, 1940 and 1941 is emerging. I would like to offer some ideas abut the impact these rapid developments have had on Harvard and its students and what possibilities exist to cope with these challenges in a beneficial...
