...shrewd step. A former congressional staff member, White House aide in the Eisenhower Administration and lobbyist for Procter & Gamble, Harlow is widely known and respected by legislators of both parties. But more important than any staff appointment to date has been Nixon's determined effort to establish rapport with Chairman Wilbur Mills of the House Ways and Means Committee. With his almost total power over taxes, social security policy and related issues, Mills will be the single most important legislator in determining the success or failure of Nixon's domestic programs...

...American country, sounds like the inevitable background for one more pale carbon copy of The Ugly American. Classified communiques pop up like toast at the breakfast table, a recording device is hidden in a tie clip, new leaders are found by a spin-the-bottle technique, and the real rapport between nations rests on a Jellolike foundation of friendship between Latifundia's President and the American ambassador. A rarity in the past, the players' acting rapport is a tribute to the skill of Director Gerald Freedman. Philip Bosco's Kent is a beautifully modulated performance with a Gielgud-like delivery of the Shakespearean line. Rene Auberjonois as the Fool is a supple mime of wisdom and Stephen Elliott's Gloucester is a man of probity incarnate, woefully abused. Barbette Tweed's Cordelia is appropriately sweet and good; Patricia Elliott as Regan and Marilyn Lightstone as Goneril...

Easy to Spot. Rather than harass the hippies, Fink opens the doors of his precinct house and invites them in to "rap" (chat, deriving from "rapport") about their complaints. He does them favors, offers them free tickets to local shows, once wrote a letter of recommendation for a scholarship-seeking hippie who wanted to return to college. Above all, he speaks their language; when rapping with a hippie, for example, Fink usually calls his own police "the fuzz...
