...Mile Reaction. This discovery, made in April of 1956, set Holman and his visitor, Dr. Nicholas T. Werthessen, jumping like baboons with excitement. Its importance lay in the fact that previously (except for rare cases in monkeys and expensive great apes) no animal had been known to develop arterial disease like a human being's, despite ingenious laboratory tricks. Researchers have learned much from rabbits, rats and chickens, but findings from these lower forms of life cannot be applied simply and directly to human diseases. The baboon, despite its lousy pelt, its foul temper and its embarrassingly lurid hind...

Meyner has some presidential handicaps. He was born a Catholic, left the church at 18 and has not joined another (whispers a Kennedy backer: "Meyner's not too popular among Catholics, you know"). He is hardly known outside New Jersey, and his rare ventures away from home have been singularly unfortunate. Another aspect of university life which distinguishes the two institutions is the relationship of the college to the university as a whole. At Yale there is a much sharper division between the graduate and the undergraduate students, and it is rare for the two to be mixed in the same course. At Harvard, a greater number of lower level courses are taught by grad students. Dean Bundy feels that this is valuable, since it creates "a greater interplay" between the two. Blitzer agrees that the isolation of the Yale graduate school is too sharp...

...wooing our women with a reasonable amount of quiet. Yes, and there are those tender moments when we wish we could forget about time. We have alarm clocks, wall clocks, wrist watches, even a ship's clock in one lucky room, hunger pangs, and the sun (on those rare days) to remind us of mortality. In addition, Mem Church chimes approximately 325 happy times during a weekday, the Lowell House bells ring spasmodically, and there is the sun-dial in back of Lamont. You may not have known about the sun-dial, because, like all of the time reminders owned...
