Women's groups were furious at a Michigan judge's decision to take away a woman's three-year-old daughter because she had placed the child in day care while attending college. Circuit Court Judge Raymond Cashen awarded custody of the toddler, Maranda, to her father, arguing that "strangers" would care for her at a day-care center while mother Jennifer Ireland, 19, attends the University of Michigan.
