...libretto of the "Royal Middy" is taken from a French melo-drama by Mm. Bayard and Dumanoir. A translation of the melo-drama was made and adapted as an operetta by F. Zell, and with Genee's music it was given at Vionna in 879. Mr. Gustave Lagye then re-translated the title "Le Cadet de Marine." Augustine Daly bought the American rights to the work and brought it out in New York at his own theatre in spectacular style early in 1880. The English version made for this production by Fred Williams is the one used in the Castle...
