We were willing to play at Springfield or Providence, but not at Hartford, to reach which from Cambridge takes four times as long as from New Haven. Third inning. Phillips reached first base on called balls. Allen hit to Wadsworth, who fumbled the ball, giving him his base, and sending Phillips to second. LeMoyne made a pretty three base-hit between left and centre, sending in two men, but was put out himself, trying to reach home. Winslow went out on a grounder to Chase. Fifth inning. For Harvard, LeMoyne reached first base on balls and stole second. Winslow fouled out to Bassett. Smith hit hard between third and short, but Wadsworth made an exceedingly good stop and threw him out at first, while LeMoyne went to third. Bassett tried to catch LeMoyne playing off his base, but Wadsworth muffed the throw and LeMoyne ran home Nichols got his base on balls but failed to reach second as Crocker went out at first by Shedd to Chase...

...seventh, both nines failed to reach first base. In the eighth inning Nichols struck to Doron, who failed to throw the ball to Chase in time, but the umpire declared him out. Crocker reached first base on balls, and tried to steal second. Basset threw to Doron who tried to reach Crocker, but to all appearances failed.
