Last week, no exception, saw the announcement of the annual report of the Rockefeller Foundation, listing an expenditure of $1,223,124 "Amazing" said the public as it turned the page, failing to comprehend the figure in the light of an item in the world's broadest educational program. But, rare is the educator or the scientist who has not, or does not hope to be, aided by this program...

His leisurely narrative is rich in satire and delicious humor, which may easily be misunderstood for meaningless, if somewhat lickerish, drool. But even the most matter-of-fact reader will envy the bright existence led by Douglas' creatures, and be charmed by his prose...

Surrounded by easy-going excavators who muse upon the past, Ruth makes her choice between loyalty to her desiccated ascetic Egyptologist, and love for virile Bezuidenhout-so very much alive in the omnipresence of death. The act that her choice is disappointing to the reader speaks well for Author Young's sympathetic portrayal...
EXCEPT for the title this work is up to the standard set by Francis Lynde's earlier works. Its name seems to be the most unfortunate part of the book. Although it is slightly explanatory, in no way does it catch the interest of the prospective reader as would the book itself...
Using a rather old idea, that of two twins getting mixed up in a highly involved plot, the author has sustained the interest of the reader admirably through the greater part of the volume. This interest is one which is centered entirely on the unraveling of the mysterious situation into which the reader and the hero, Roderick Hazzard, are thrown together. Without the plot, the work would have no content whatever. All the characters are over idealized and show no real development or subtlety throughout the three hundred odd pages of rapidly moving action...
