...great irony of the near rebirth of preregistration had a miniature irony within it. After the heated faculty denunciation of preregistration in the March meeting, one item remained on the agenda. The next presenter, however, had to stand patiently at the microphone, as many faculty who had come for the preregistration debate shuffled noisily out of their chairs and left the room, unwilling to stay for 10 more minutes until the adjournment hour.
