Although immaterial to this trial, the transcripts also seemed to show that Nixon was contemplating the use of political contributions for a personal and noncampaign-purpose, which would have violated the campaign-funding laws. He also seemed to be suggesting that he had asked Rebozo to help make sure that heavy contributors were rewarded, presumably through Government favors.
