Meredith closed his career as a collegiate runner by setting up a new world's record of 47 2-5 seconds in the quarter and a new intercollegiate mark of 1 minute 53 seconds in the half-mile. The former intercollegiate record in the quarter of 48 seconds was made by Reidpath of Syracuse in 1912 and was equalled by Meredith last year.
