...staunch leadership had delivered over the course of the previous decade, treated themselves to a new pair of shoes when electing Rudd back in late 2007. Great marketing in the purest sense. As a result of flash-in-the-pan stimulus packages, we are saddled now with terrifying, record debt. Rudd has also been lecturing other countries on how to wrestle with global challenges - and perhaps is given a fleeting audience in China and the U.S. But trying to be all things to all people in the end makes you nothing to everyone. Please put on the cover of TIME...
...recession that has been very kind to Hollywood generally - ticket sales are up 12% this year - the reception of the sixth installment of the boy wizard's story has been spellbinding. The film raked in almost $400 million worldwide in its first five days, breaking an industry record set in 2007 by Spider-Man 3 and bringing the franchise total close to $5 billion...
...while there, it looked like the doomsayers would be proved right. On July 29, the Shanghai Composite Index lost as much as 7.7% of its value before ending the day down 5% on record-breaking trading volume of $43.3 billion. The sell-off was the largest one-day decline in Chinese stocks in eight months, and set off panic purging in Hong Kong, where the Hang Seng Index lost 2.4%. Even the U.S. got dinged, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average ending the day off by 26 points...

But younger managers and workers generally express support for Mousavi, even though, as one pointed out, "Mousavi never visited the bazaar before the election." Bazaaris felt slighted by the snub, and since the bazaar's merchants are still a main conduit to Iran's smaller towns and rural areas, this...
However, on a societal level, the age hierarchy infantilizes younger workers. They become unwilling to even consider challenging their elders. The consequences can be severe; as Malcolm Gladwell relates in Outliers, Korean Airlines had a terrible safety record in the early 1990s because co-pilots would not correct their pilots. Korea also loses a lot of potentially excellent, young leaders because of this cultural issue. They feel under-qualified not by their lack of clear reasoning but by their lack of gray hair. On the flip side, older leaders become complacent in their positions not because of their abilities...
