Bishop Lawrence was born in Boston in 1850, and after graduating from Harvard College he attended the Episcopal Theological School, from which he received the degree of Bachelor of Sacred Theology in 1875. After being ordained deacon in 1875, and priest in 1876, he became Rector of Grace Church, Lawrence, Massachusetts.
