...truly reject an instrumental view of human life, we must do so in cases where it is least intuitive. In moral judgment, we must follow our reason, which tells us that the embryo’s life has dignity because it is human (for what else is it?), rather than just our sentiments, which desire to alleviate visible suffering. Valuing human dignity is most important in situations where we have to do what we ought to do rather than what we would like...
Should the matter appear for their consideration, the citizens of the Commonwealth should reject the proposal. Ending bilingual education would leave thousands of children struggling to keep up. While we understand that the current bilingual education program must be reformed, Unz’s proposal would through the proverbial baby out with the bathwater—bilingual education needs help not because it is too large a program, but rather because it is too limited for the population it seeks to serve...

It should go without saying (unfortunately, it does not) that the comments about AIDS being a deserved plague or about wishing violent death to anyone are completely antithetical...
...problem of evil is not solved by taking God out of the equation. Rather, it is made unsolvable. In the aftermath of situations like September 11th, people don’t turn away from God, they cry out to Him in grief, confusion, and anger. Even those that reject God can only do so because they know there’s a God to turn their back on. Every atheist can describe the kind of God they don’t believe...
