...videotape discovered by police in a 2005 raid on a JI safe house in central Java, a balaclava-clad man believed to be Noordin is heard ranting: "America, Australia, England and Italy are all our enemies. We especially remind Australia that you, [then Foreign Minister Alexander] Downer and [then Prime Minister John] Howard, are killing Australia, leading it into darkness and misfortune and mujahidin terror." In May 2004, despite being the subject of one of Indonesia's largest manhunts, Noordin managed to marry his second wife, Munfiatun Al-Fitri, who, according to the ICG report, had wanted to marry...
...story follows Josh, a 26-year-old gay man who gets drunk a lot, sleeps around, and then faces the stark fear that he is HIV-positive. I won't give away the ending, but it's not that important. The key parts of the movies are those that remind us that even in the antiretroviral era, getting HIV is an enormous medical and psychological burden. He worried that the gunslinger language of his first term "indicated that I was not, you know, a man of peace." He tried to remind Europeans that "America is a force for good. America is a force for liberty. America is a force to fight disease." He even conceded - this from a Texas oilman - that the rich nations of the world would have to "transfer out of the hydrocarbon economy...
...Bush Administration, which has held some of the defendants for five years of interrogation and torture at secret locations, the trial offers a timely opportunity to remind Americans of the terrorist threat. Showcasing sensational evidence of the 9/11 conspiracy will not only assist the trial and possible execution of its alleged perpetrators, it will bolster the Administration's approach to its continuing "global war on terror." Although few observers expect the latest court deadline to be met, prosecutors say they will be ready to start the trial on September 18, close to the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks - and also...
