...Nancy Gibbs' article angered and shocked me immensely. The U.S. military must protect the rights of female soldiers, who are as dedicated and loyal as their male counterparts. ...Reports of sexual assault in the military increased 11% last year, according to a Department of Defense study released on March 16. While the study did not conclusively explain the increase, the Pentagon called the rise in reports "encouraging" and suggested that a 2005 sexual-assault-policy overhaul might be part of the reason more victims have come forward.
