...quoted Professor Fred Rodell (whoever he is) of the Yale Law School as referring to Haynsworth as a "mediocre slob." May I ask that if you insist on quoting from representatives of such institutions you request them to do a little upgrading of their faculties? There are many of us who are not always impressed or intimidated by the Ivy League, and we still appreciate gentlemen who have differing points of view. It doesn't take much sense to see that the "mediocre slob" statement is much more a reflection upon the one who said it than upon Judge...
...reportage for our fourth Ho cover turned up another bit of intelligence that holds particular interest for us. Whenever Ho was in Kunming during World War II, he visited the U.S. Office of War Information. His request: TIME, the Weekly News magazine. Both lawyers-and prisoners-by the score request citations of cases referred to in TIME'S Law section, and Medicine brings a flood of requests for further information on stories. Most new products we mention bring requests for further information; the current favorite is the all-terrain vehicle described in Sport last month...
...Request for a Delay. Last week this fear, widely held by liberals and moderates, led to an embarrassing family dispute within the Administration. Some 40 attorneys working in the Civil Rights Division of Mitchell's Justice Department gathered in the apartment of one of their number. They met in an unprecedented act of rebellion to discuss a petition of protest to Attorney General Mitchell. The day before, the Justice Department had gone into federal court to retreat from the Government's previous insistence that 33 recalcitrant Mississippi school districts meet this year's deadline for desegregation-after...
