CHORAL: Carlo Mario Giulini masterfully melds the Philharmonia Orchestra, chorus and four soloists into an incandescent Verdi Requiem (Angel). Intricate but eloquent, the Symphony of Psalms is performed by the CBC Symphony and the Festival Singers of Toronto, spurred on by Igor Stravinsky (Columbia...
Divorced. Anthony Quinn, 48, cinemactor (Requiem for a Heavyweight, Barabbas); and Katherine De Mille Quinn, 51, adopted daughter of the late Cecil B.; in a double decree awarded on grounds of mutual incompatibility, and by reason of his eagerness to "do right by my two little boys"-the two boys by his Italian girl friend, Jolanda Addolori, 29, whom he now hopes to marry; after 27 years of marriage, four children; in Juarez, Mexico...
...VERDI: REQUIEM (2 LPs; Angel). When Verdi wrote his Requiem, most critics complained that it was too passionate and sensuous, but one sympathizer de fended him. He does not set the Dies Irae ablaze as Toscanini did, but his performance has a steady incandescence. Honors also go to London's Philharmonia Orchestra, its huge chorus, and the four soloists...

Quite a lot, as it turned out. The crowd, including Nina Khrushchev, enveloped the visitors in a bear hug, howling "Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!" and mashing its way down the aisles to pelt the stars with carnations in a 26-minute storm of applause that included 16 curtain calls...
London Records was the first to exhume a number of its buried treasures, reissuing under the Richmond label such gems as George Szell conducting the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Brahms's Third Symphony and the Mozart Requiem conducted by Josef Krips at the bargain-basement price of just $1.98 per record (formerly $4.98). Sales were brisk, so London reissued ten operas, including Renata Tebaldi in La Boheme and Madama Butterfly. Mercury followed London's lead, establishing its Wing label, featuring such surefire favorites as suites from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker and Swan Lake ($1.98 for mono...
