...strongest eights that Harvard has produced in recent years. The general watermanship, however, is poor, and the men are rough and awkward. The boat has shown a tendency to hitch between strokes, due to the men hanging at the full reach and rushing their slides. In this respect, however, they are improving rapidly and the boat is now moving more smoothly. The men get a good finish in their stroke, but lack the hard biting catch so marked in the Yale crew; they do not catch hard enough or quick enough. The crew has also shown a tendency to slug...

...reasons which actuated one member of the Board of Directors in withholding his assent from the plan. There is really no difference of interest between the directors and the members: we all wish the same thing, the perpetuation and success of the Harvard Co-operative Society, and we all respect and confide in the five gentlemen who are willing to accept so laborious and vexatious a task as the management of the Co-operative business; but before putting our property in the hands of a perpetual trust, over which we are to have no other control than through discussion...

...batting of the Freshmen was very weak, only three hits being made. In the second and eighth inning the Freshmen had men on bases and good chances to score but failed to do so because of their stupid base running. Mitchell, Maguire and Thomas were especially poor in this respect and were largely responsible for the loss of the game. Tuckerman pitched a good game. He allowed only seven scattered hits and one base on balls, and showed steadiness and good control in critical times...

...nine defeated Groton last Saturday by the score of 6 to 2. The Groton team was weak, particularly at the bat. The base running of the Freshmen was very poor, and the fact that they did not make a larger score was largely due to their inefficiency in this respect and to their inability to bunch their hits...
