...faculty that all athletic contests which occur during the week must begin not sooner than four o'clock. This rule has always been a very disagreeable one, especially in the foot-ball season, as the amount of daylight after four o'clock is very limited. As a result, the games are generally played two half-hours instead of two three-quarters as is the regular rule of the game, and in spite of this the latter part of the games are generally played in semidarkness. Since the adoption of the new time standard, the rule has become more objectionable than...

...enjoys in the two colleges. At Princeton, there are, unless things have changed very recently, six regular teams, -the freshman, freshman scrub, sophomore, sophomore scrub, university, and university scrub. Of course other things being equal, six teams ought to develop three times as much material as two ; and the result is that ache year the team is composed mainly of seniors, who have had three years experience of the game. The university teams play before dinner from 12 to 1.30, and run about two miles ; they practice kicking and passing before supper, from 5 to 6 ; these hours contrast strongly...

...little comment on Saturday's game seems necessary. The result could be nothing but a disappointment to the college as the team by its careful work and steady improvement had created for itself a growing feeling of confidence. The eleven and the college must now devote all their energies to making a good showing on Thanksgiving day. The play of our team in Saturday's game assures a hard fight, and the experience of that game will prove valuable. There should be no lack of energy on the part of the team nor encouragement on the part of the college...

...they are to learn to play together. In addition to this such of last year's freshman team as are not engaged should also be willing to come out and give the new-comers the benefit of their experience. The whole college too, is directly interested in the result of this contest and now is the time for them to contribute largely to the chances for Harvard's success. Upper class men can furnish encouragement and advice, but the work must rightly be done by '87, for the greater share of the praise is to be theirs in case they...
