...Cricket Club, notwithstanding its two last games have resulted in defeat, is much to be praised. It has done an amount of work and training that would do credit to other organizations which make larger claims upon College support. The two clubs by whom it has just been defeated have the reputation of being first-class teams. Hence the result of the games has been neither unexpected nor discouraging. But though the organization, as a whole, is a success, yet some points may be fairly criticized. For instance, the fielding is at times wretched, a fault which a little hard...

...Mott Haven sports last Saturday were in almost every respect satisfactory. As had been expected, Harvard won nearly every event in which its representatives were entered, taking eleven prizes. The conclusions to be drawn from this result are easily seen. More men have trained this year than ever before, while the system of Class games instituted this spring for the first time, drew out many men who have heretofore kept aloof. By this means, the chance of winning prizes has been greater than ever before, and competitors have been induced to work hard in the hope of being sent...

...result of the first game with Yale is, to say the least, discouraging; but we must remember that Yale has an exceptionally good nine this year, and that at Harvard but little care has been taken to train men to fill the places of those who during the past years have done so much towards the honor of the College. Our Nine, however, are deserving of praise for the steady game which they played throughout. In spite of the fact that the score stood at one time seventeen to nothing, the Nine did not commit the fatal blunder of losing...

...Paul's at first adopted white, as an emblem of purity, and it was subsequently decided to add black, in token of mourning over the depraved state of college morals. So the result is a neat thing in checkered black and white, which has the additional value that those of the society who are members of the Chess Club can amuse themselves with a quiet game on hat ribbons during the sermon...
