Shortly after her father's death, Marian Anderson was "converted." Her mother is a Methodist. But Marian was converted in her father's Union Baptist Church, largely because the late Rev. Wesley G. Parks was deeply interested in . music, loved his choirs and encouraged any outstanding singer in them. At 13, Marian was singing in the church's adult choir.
