Next to perform was the Pan African Drum and Dance Troupe, a fairly new student group that focuses on traditional African dance. The troupe performed a “Didadi” dance, which originated from Mali. Generating an infectious amount of enthusiasm around Sanders, the troupe, with their rhythmic dancing and African chanting, were genuinely impressive. With smiles plastered on their faces, they clapped and stomped amidst audience cheers...

Darweesh’s compositions were expertly performed by the CCOE quintet. All of the musicians delivered virtuosic performances, but riqq player Nagi was especially dazzling. He showcased incredible mastery and bravura during several show-stopping solos; rock drummers with full kits would struggle to match the rhythmic variety and tonal subtlety Nagi achieved with his single instrument...
...tired of the rapid-fire rhymes and the offbeat, noisy instrumentals, the compilation comes up with “Sick 2 Def” by Plan B, which morphs grime into an angry, impassioned assault on life’s problems, with the main rapper accompanied only by a rhythmic acoustic guitar. It’s a powerful, welcome showcase. The second half of the compilation falters a bit, mostly due to the lack of versatility.
