...spite of the fact that the dormitory crew orders are far from being straightened out yet, there were more crews on the river yesterday than on Monday. Several dormitories whose men did not all report made up scrub eights and went out. Randolph had enough men yesterday to form a crew of its own and henceforth will row alone, but Ridgely and Russell will continue to row together. Since Monday there has been an improvement in the work of the second and third crews, but their rowing is not up to the standard. In the University crew the faults noticeable the first day on the river have not disappeared. The men still rush the slides, jerk at the catch and show a general unsteadiness. The individual work of the men in the first boat has been fairly good, but the crew rows as individuals and not as one man. The stern four are responsible for the tendency to rush the slides...

...forced to return to Gales Ferry. The university squads after waiting some time for the wind to die down, went for a two-mile walk in the morning. The wind continued blowing very hard up until about 6 o'clock. At 6.30 all the crews went out upon the river, paddling over to west shore where there was calmer water. The university and freshman eights now went downstream for about a mile and a half at a medium stroke. They then raced for a mile, the university eight winning by about three lengths.
