Died. Vittorio De Sica, 73, Italian director and actor who, with Roberto Rossellini, brought a new realism to films; of lung cancer; in Paris. De Sica during the 1920s performed as a romantic lead in stage comedies and musicals, and in the 1930s turned to similar roles in films.
