...Booth is so well known in his role of "Hamlet" that any comment on his acting is unnecessary. It is sufficient to say that his grand conception was admirably carried out. Mme. Modjeska was more successful as "Ophelia" than as "Portia" and seemed better suited to the part. Mr. Skinner showed great ability and feeling as "Laertes." The least satisfactory character was Mr. Hanford, who was too stiff for "Claudius." Mr. Taylor as "Horatio" and the supers might also have been improved upon.
