Henry David Thoreau's seed plants are examined by REED C. ROLLINS, Director of the Gray Herbarium at the University Herbarium. Six portfolios of dried and mounted specimens collected by Thoreau were given to the University recently by the Trustees of the Concord Free Public Library.
Hyder E. Rollins, successor to George Lyman Kittredge as Gurney Professor of English Literature, died last Friday in Cambridge. He was 69 years old.
A teacher of many scholars and a leading authority on John Keats, Rollins completed his monumental edition of "The Letters of John Keats" just before his death. In addition to his work on the early Romantic poets, Rollins was also an authority on the ballads of the Elizabethan period.
