...William Randolph Hearst at a Communist meeting. Nelson Eddy, back from his ill-fated venture at West Point, has also been democratized; but the results in his case are all for the good. The story is very far-fetched, and suffers from an insipid happy ending; but Sigmund Romberg's excellent music, sung as only Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy can sing, together with a good supporting cast and the rich browns and delicate blues of the sepia-platinum photography, make the picture entirely worthy of its Easter-weekend billing...
